About Freelance Money Tools

Last updated: July 2026

Freelance Money Tools is a pile of calculators for US freelancers and 1099 contractors — taxes, hourly rates, deductions, retirement. The kind of math you redo every year and never quite trust in your head.

Everything runs in your browser. No account, no saved inputs, no email gate. When the IRS or SSA publishes a new bracket, wage base, or payroll parameter, we update the maintained data and note the tax year on each result so you know which rules you ran.

Where the numbers come from

Tax brackets, standard deductions, Social Security wage bases, mileage rates, and retirement limits are loaded from a single maintained file backed by IRS and SSA publications — not scraped from third-party sites. Every assumption and simplification is listed on our data sources & methodology page. Federal tax parameters were last verified in July 2026.

We also publish short guides that explain the concepts behind the calculators — useful if you are new to quarterly payments or QBI, not a replacement for a CPA.

What this is not

Not tax advice, not payroll software, not a CPA, and not your employer's official check stub. These are planning numbers — useful for checking SE tax, rates, and deductions. For filing or anything complicated, talk to someone licensed.
